UMUOKORAFOR PEOPLE COMMENDED FOR SELF HELP DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS People of Umuokorafor Elekenowasi Obohia in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA have been commended for their self help development efforts. The LGA Director of Administration and https://plus.google.com/+psiseminars General Services (DAGS), Comrade Alex Megwa gave the commendation at the foundation laying ceremony of Umuokorafor civic hall. He enjoined them to eschew infighting and bickering for sustainable peace and progress. Comrade Megwa, represented by the Area Information Officer, Mr. Damian Anyanwu urged them to place the welfare of all above personal differences and group interests, underlining need to close ranks and achieve set goals. Speaking, Fr. Protase Anyanwu of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elekenowasi remarked that there could hardly be development and progress in any atmosphere of chaos and anarchy. He reiterated that no one is an Island and enjoined them to do away with hatred, greed and avarice as well as jettison dichotomy, pull him down syndrome and unhealthy rivalry for good neighbourliness and rapid socio-economic and political growth. The clergy admonished leaders to lead by example, be transparent and accountable, uphold the truth and promote justice to leave a legacy for posterity while calling on the led to be supportive. Laying the block for the foundation earlier, the Chairman Aladinma Umuokorafor, Mr. Cornelius Anyanwu restated his administration's resolve to ensure a befitting civic hall for the village and prayed the co-operation of all in the accomplishment of the project. In their separate speeches, a community leader, loseph Ohaegbulem, the village Aladinma Secretary, Mr. Tony Obi, an Elder of the village, Mr. Izuka Nchehie appreciated the unity of purpose and called for strong commitment of all to the task. They noted that frequent closure of palm was not likely to facilitate the project just as it would also increase the burden of the people and called on their sons and daughters in diaspora, relatives, friends and well wishers to come to their aid.
